Situation: In 2017, Alaska Airlines created a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a group of lucky guests: a flight to intercept the Great American Eclipse. The airline needed to capture the magic of the experience for a national audience that was inundated with Eclipse news.
Solution: Leading up to the flight, I interviewed the collection of astronomers, eclipse chasers, pilots and planners that made the event a success, culminating in a blog post documenting the experience. Along with the blog post, we created a 60 second video in collaboration with GoPro using cameras mounted throughout the cabin and provided to guests. Both the blog and video content were edited and posted just three hours after the flight landed. You can see the post and video on Alaska's Blog, or check them out below. The campaign was named promotional event of the year at the 2018 PRWeek Awards.
